Lexus LFA – Finally Arrives
A decade in the making, often a victim of its own press and expectations, so very nearly the laughing stock of the automotive world. Finally though, the Lexus supercar has arrived. Called the LFA, this is one mean looking car, with an engine to make most Italian supercars cower in fear, and have the Brit contingent fighting to reestablish dominance. The LFA is here, and it means business.
The LFA has been doing the rounds at international motor shows, in various shapes and forms since 2005 when the LF-A premiered, pre concept work having started in 2000. Fast forward to 2009 and at the Tokyo Motorshow Lexus unveiled the production model – the Lexus LFA.
Now, the very lucky (and extremely wealthy) who managed to get on the 500 list of privileged owners are beginning to take delivery of their new sports car. So, what exactly does £340,000 buy you these days? Under the hood is a 4.8lt V10 engine, 552 BHP and its capable of 0-60 speed in only 3.8 seconds. In a word: impressive.
Check out the video below of the Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond giving this car the once over on the test track.
