Engineered Bicycle
The humble bicycle – entertaining and moving the masses since the 1800s. The basic concept has remained fairly consistent, with modern technology and materials adding to the bikes ability to perform. Students over at the University of Pennsylvania have decided that the mechanisms of the bike aren’t quite up to date enough, and have created this – possibly the most technically advanced ‘push bike’ around.
Called Alpha, the bike contains many advanced features not found on regular bikes, such as electronic clutch control and gears that live inside the wheel hub!
As someone who dabbles in building custom single speed bikes, I have to wonder whether a bicycle this engineered perhaps takes the fun out of bikes for the humble user and hobbyist…
