$4.5 Billion Yacht – The Hungry Weep
In a move that is sure to win this certain person the title of ‘Dirtbag Richman of the Century’, an anonymous billionaire has splashed out $4.5 Billion (yes, BILLION) on getting his private yacht plated with 100,000kg of gold by UK designer Stuart Hughes. Crass to the max, and a sickening show of personal wealth, this has to be one of the most wasteful expressions of riches since the completion of Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai home.
To give this over the top yacht some context – The Ambani home, called Antilia is a 27 Storey single family house containing 400,000sq ft of space and a fulltime staff of 600 people. The home is rumoured to have its own air traffic control floor, along with 3 helipads. That home is now valued at $1 Billion. To think this businessman could have had 4.5 of these excessive homes for the cost of a yacht that must struggle to move through the water.
We here at Habitables would never presume to know how someone should spend their personal wealth, but this seems over the top, even for the super rich. Watching gold plated yachts sail by – this is how revolutions start! The gulf in wealth between the rich and poor and the excesses of the rich are becoming monstrous – lets hope the ‘poor’ don’t find their pitchforks and take up arms against this show of wealth. On second thoughts…
If you have a thought on this ‘lovely’ boat, please let us know!!
