Joseph Cornell Box
Joseph Cornell’s box constructions, used materials to evoke feelings and relationships. He desired of his works that the explanation should quickly- if not immediately, be forgotten and the pictures be allowed to speak.
Below his work are several quotes relating to time, taken from the Peabody Essex Museum’s assembly of some of his works. They profess a very important lesson relating to any attempts at capturing moments; that the infinite never began nor will it ever end, that it is birth, life, love, goodness, freshness and promise that are to be recorded. Life is not measured by calendars.
