‘Up There’
Our cities are made up of so many individual segments and pieces, that when combined they create the delicate fabric that we know as the urban environment. One of the unmistakable aspects of our modern cities is advertising. Its ubiquitous, decorating many of the spare empty walls and spaces across cities. We are so use to them, we ignore them, letting them blend in with the rest of the city, contributing to the urban kaleidoscope we all recognise.
There was a time when adverts on walls in our cities were not plastered on via giant sheets of paper or big screens, but were hand painted by skilled workers. This video, entitled ‘Up There’ was made in conjunction with Stellar Artois, and is dedicated to the last few men in New York city who still ply this trade.
So to you, advert painters of New York city, we pour a cold one, and salute you!
