Iwan Baan – Photographer Extraordinaire
Iwan Baan is a photographer of the highest standard. He is known for his ability to capture the essence and beauty of the worlds greatest architecture, in a narrative, exploratory manner.
His work has given him the opportunity to collaborate with the likes of Rem Koolhaas, Herzog & de Meuron and Toyo Ito, to name just a few.
His work presents the architecture it depicts as the subject of an extraordinary biopic. The photographs are intimate and revealing, in a way creating a view into the structures, through the eyes of their creators. He captures elements and details out of context to the whole, thereby drawing the viewer into an understanding of the important relationships that exist between the structure as a whole and the carefully crafted details.
Buildings, when viewed in their entirety can often leave us with a feeling of awe, yet not always with understanding. Baan does this with a subtly and class deserving of his subjects quality.
