Architecture Photo of the Day #54 – Postal

Media

Sometimes, architecture and function are married to aid in ability of the building to perform its task. In todays photo, this long corridor belongs to the Minneapolis post office. I believe the bottom of the photo features brass tubes. I confess an ignorance to how the postal system works, but I believe these are shoots carrying the letters. The long shape to the room has been designed to aid the travelling of these pipes – and the photo perfectly captures the depth of the space.
