Architecture Photo of the day #19 – Light
There are times when you may want to disguise the structure of a building, to create the illusion of gravity defying construction. Sometimes though, there is real design merit (not too mention ease of construction) to be found in showing off the structural elements of a building, and making them part of the design itself.
Todays photo was chosen because it does, in a very clear way exhibit the design benefit of expressing structural elements within the aesthetic fabric of the building. This particular building, unidentified but located somewhere in Dresden, Germany is well shot, and the roof, despite the supportive steel struts visibile definitely appears light, to almost float there in space.
