GreenAid iPhone app

If you’re an eco warrior, the iPhone and other smart devices are very quickly becoming your best tool in the battle to save and preserve our planet. If you’re new to fighting the green battle, perhaps storming oil tankers or whaling ships is to great a eco gesture – so why not give seedbombing a go!?

GreenAid are perverors of little bombs of environmental joy, and if you are the kind of person wishing to help the planet out a little bit, their new GreenAid app (avialable from the iTunes store, for free) may help you spread a little eco chaos!

The app itself is devoid of the usual indepth social network capabilities that many apps usually come with, although it does provide you with links to their Twitter and Facebook pages. I guess for an activity that is deemed to be ‘guerilla’, the social aspect of your bombing is possibly less important!

Within the app is a very easy to follow and use map system that allows users to mark locations of vending machines that dispense seeds, ‘deployed’ locations, and suggested bombing spots. There is also a very simple explanation of the process that you undertake to ‘bomb’. For a free app, it certainly isn’t a waste of time, and if you are a 21st century green warrior, this is perhaps the app you have been waiting for. Room for growth? absolutely – but it could become an effective tool as it is, and if this is really all the features it needs, then why change it?
