Grey Group Polaroid Lobby, Melbourne – Artillery Architecture and Interior Design
Grey Group in Melbourne wanted a unique spatial treatment for their company lobby in Melbourne, Australia, and commissioned Artillery Architecture and Interior Design to create a space that would effectively deliver the companies image to clients. The space is a reflection of the companies desire to only be Grey in name, and their desire to project a bold and positive image.
“Grey’s work is known to be ‘Famously Effective’. This lobby polaroid wall was created to showcase what makes Grey ‘Famously Effective’: their people, the things that inspire their people, and most importantly their clients (a lot like Artillery!). Artillery’s brief was to provide an office which was “anything but Grey” in mood and feel. A limited budget and quick time-frame were a challenge to the design team. Made up of creatives, the Grey team was keenly interested in the design process but was also willing to be guided by Artillery. Grey’s new office space needed to provide opportunity to rejuvenate and energise the Grey team. Once you have passed the ‘Famously Effective’ wall, reception showcases Grey’s work in the creative display of their many awards, and a large rear projection screen streaming their work and other digital media. Other design features included open plan spaces interrupted by ‘pods’ painted in whiteboard paint which act as meeting rooms and quiet rooms – allowing creativity and ideas to be captured anywhere within the workplace, on any surface. Movable pin boards and blinds create private spaces within the open. Flexible work styles were explored to allow for future growth with minimal impact”, Artillery
“From a company I’d never heard of came a result I would never have expected. From the beginning, I found Artillery interested, involved, innovative, flexible, budget-aware and refreshing. The new office has exceeded my wildest expectations and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them”, Paul Gardner, Chairman, Grey Group
