Villa Geldrop, Hofman Dujardin Architects
Glass. Possibly the only material that is at once your best and worse friend. For lighting reasons and to create the illusion of space, there is simply nothing else that comes close. It isn’t however so good for insulating a house or keeping prying eyes out. That being said, this heavily glazed house certainly has the wow factor.
Dutch architects Hofman Dujardin Architects are behind this striking family home, located near the Dutch town of Geldrop.
In an arrangement more at home on the beachfront than in the Dutch countryside, the bedrooms and bathrooms are located in the basement. The ground floor contains the living space, with grand views out over the gardens and surrounding countryside. Nestled in the eves of the pitched roof is a study.
