Architecture

We recently featured a great example of the work of Chensy’s of London, and today we are delighted to be able to present a series of photos that exhibit a stairwell they created for a project in conjunction with Madison Spencer Architects.

Chesney’s have also supplied us with some photos from during the making process.

“Renowned New York Architects Madison Spencer commissioned Chesneys to design a 21-step cantilevered staircase for a residential property in Rhode Island.

The material selected for the was a lightly veined Carrara Amministrazione marble and it was important that the design for the staircase showed the material to its best effect. With this in mind, we recommended sweeping winders with an ogee tread design and a solid apron of marble to the entire edge of the galleried landing that would best show the marble, in all its natural beauty.

A unique aspect to this staircase was the constructional lintel above the main door entrance had to be designed as part of one of the steps, saving space and providing a better shape to the winders”, Chesney’s

“Our clients request for an impressive classical staircase that would be used for generations to come, was successfully designed and delivered by Chesneys”, Madison Spencer Architects
