President Obama’s ‘Beast’ to be hit with Congestion Charge
Environmentally aware London Mayor Boris Johnson is considering levying at President Obama and his motorcade with the £10 congestion charge during his state visit to the capital. Most likely, the fee will simply be added to the already high outstanding bill for charges such as these for US diplomats that now stands at £5.3 million. This is however a victory for principle, and we tip our hat to the blonde bombshell that is Mayor Boris Johnson!
“Our roads were not closed during the President’s visit so his motorcade will pay. The Beast will pay the charge, I’m delighted to say. We didn’t charge the Pope when he was here because all the roads were closed, so the Popemobile was exempt. But this was different”, Mayor Johnson
Now, the next step would be for the Mayor to make all diplomatic transport in the city be via bicycles, but we wont be holding out for such a drastic suggestion, we all know how diplomats love to drive!
