OfficePOD – Environmentally Friendly Office for Home

Architecture

The word ‘Pod’ has become ubiquitous with cool ever since Apple introduced the iPod way back in 2001. A decade on, the iPod is still king of portable music (despite a growing challenge from the iPhone), and the little device has spawned a bounty of products hoping to bask in some of that Apple after glow.

Presenting the ‘OfficePOD’. This is one cool looking, um, Pod. Designed to be as compact as an office can be, it is the little space thats BIG on practicality, and wearing its Apple inspiration for all to see. Designed for those wishing to work more at home, the OfficePOD offers the user a simple and elegant way to divide your home and work, when they are one and the same (admittedly not as simple as a spare room and a lick of paint, but you get the idea).

The OfficePOD has the aim of providing users with a better work/home balance, and within its tiny 2.1mx2.1m shell, it offers a compact space that provides power, communication connectivity as well as a material and design quality that wouldn’t look out of place in a high end showroom.

Whilst all this high end design is great, its no good if a byproduct is an environmentally unfriendly product. Not the case. The OfficePOD is built of a range of materials that are either recycled or recyclable, sustainable where possible, and only man made when nothing else will perform the job.

I can’t be sure (as prices seem to be hard to come by without making a direct enquiry), but I believe they start at around £15,000
