Modern Day Castle – Ricardo Bofill

Architecture

Built on the ruins of a cement factory, this enchanting complex renovated and redesigned by Ricardo Bofill, also serves as his primary residence.
Of the original silos existing when he found the site in 1973, 8 remain to make offices, archives, a library, a projection room, and a gigantic concert and exhibition space that is referred to as “the Cathedral”
According to Bofill, “the factory is a magic place in which strange atmosphere is difficult to be perceived by a profane eye. I like life to be perfectly programmed here, ritualised, in total contrast with my turbulent nomad life”.
