Minimalist House, Leiria, Portugal – Manuel Aires Mateus
Its white, with clean lines and windowless – you could be forgiven for thinking I was talking about an Apple product. In fact, its this, an impressively minimalist home by Manuel Aires Mateus, in Leiria, Portugal.
The home has been designed around a central courtyard, which is the main source of light for the rest of the house. Rising up through all 3 storeys of the property, the central column is a real focal point for the house.
The house takes on a form recognisable to most as a regular pitched poof house, but with a distinctly different external treatment. Its delightfully unique, but the clean, simple facade treatment leaves one wondering: how is this house going to ever stay that white!?!
