House O, Japan – Jun Igarishi Architects
Could you live in a black box? How about a house made up of a series of tiny black boxes? Japanese architects Jun Igarishi designed this unique home. Centred around interconnected spaces, the most striking aspect of its design is how separate these spaces are, externally.
Internal spaces don’t tend to dominate and instruct the external fabric of a dwelling, but the architects in this instance have let the functional spaces within control the external. The matt black finish is a bold statement. It absorbs the light and the view, making the home a real focus for anyone passing.
