Heneghan Peng submits plans for new University of Greenwich Campus

Architecture

Planning permission has been submitted for the new school of Architecture and Construction by Heneghan Peng for University of Greenwich. The new building will also house the campus library, as well as TV studios and editing suites. A key consideration was to respond to it’s context, appearing as tightly packed volumes that blend into the streetscape on Stockwell St. as a series of volumes before pulling apart to reveal the new public space that will consist of a gallery, café and exhibition space, all for public use, as well as walkway that will connect Stockewell street with King William Road that leads up to the historic Greenwich Park and Royal Observatory. The building is also set to have “living roofs” with wildflowers, sedums and other plants that it is hoped will create a haven for wildlife in the centre of the town.

The plans are due to go on public display from Wednesday 23 February to Saturday 26 February at the University of Greenwich Campus
