Detroit – the Abandoned City

Architecture

In modern times, its hard to imagine a city suffering such a spectacular collapse as Detroit. Decimated by the collapse of its automotive industry and pressures from the economic downturn have seen 10% of Detroits houses lying abandoned.

Over at Forgotten Detroit the author David Kohrman has collected a great set of photographs depicting the great architecture that has laid abandoned thanks to the poor turn of events.

Below is a series of photographs taken in the Michigan Central Depot. The building has been abandoned since 1988, a victim of the cars success, rather than current economic turmoil, but a victim none the less.
