Chesney English Country Home Stair Design
Last week we showed you a photo from Chesney’s of London, depicting one of their gorgeous staircases. Today, we have a follow up from Chesney’s to give us a little more information on what they do, and some more great photos of another completed project.
When Chesney’s were approached to design and manufacture a limestone cantilevered staircase for the entrance hall of a new English country house, the brief was to create a focal point that was both graceful and impressive.
We suggested a smooth soffit tread design which would lend itself well to a plain material such as limestone and would create a beautiful continuous curve to the underside of the staircase that could be appreciated from the Entrance Hall below.
A simple geometric oval comprising some 200 individual pieces of stone and marble provided a unique centrepiece to the matching limestone flooring and the same material was used for a series of classical stone door frames which provide an elegant entry to the Dining and Drawing rooms beyond.
A Portuguese limestone was used throughout with St Augustine marble as the accent marble for the design to the floor and the flagstones”, Chesney’s of London

Special thanks to Chesney’s of London for sharing these photos with us. Architecture is so often about the finer details, and a strong focus and dedication to making sure every last aspect of a design works together to make the whole successful is an approach that will always yield positive results.
