Black Pearl House, Rotterdam South

Architecture, Interior

Here at Habitables we LOVE uniqueness. When you discover a property that stands out from the crowd, its easy to get blown away. In Rotterdam South, Studio Rolf.fr and Zecc Architects have turned a run down house into a beautiful expression of change and development, incorporating a home and workshop.

The new home has rissen out of the gutted remains of the previous house, and is in complete contrast to the property it now lives within. I say ‘lives within’ because all that remains is the shell of the previous house, and even that hasn’t escaped the architects pen. Painted completely black, the windows have been filled in and replaced with irregular openings across the face of the building, that starkly compare to what was there before.
