Architecture Photo of the Day – #159 – Parking

Architecture

Car’s play a huge part in our modern urban way of living, and as such, there is often a need to address their parking through the designing of car parks. Architects and city planners tend to want to ‘hide’ the car in plain sight, in giant concrete and steel structures with few openings, not allowing the car’s inside to be seen – despite us all knowing what’s inside!

What I love about the Marina Towers in Chicago, and this photo is that they don’t try to hide the purpose of the building; the car’s form part of the architecture, an element of the facade itself. We know whats in these buildings, express it!
